Role: Communications Coordinator

Reports to: Executive Director

Hours: 20-25 hours/week; Monday-Friday

Salary: $25-$30 per hour

Status: Part-time, exempt

Summary

The Communications Coordinator is responsible for raising the visibility of Nebraska Family Planning (NEFP) and its 11 Agencies through print, email, social media, and broadcast communications, and to assist with the content development for our various online platforms.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experienced writer
  • 3-5 years of related communications experience, including web development, social media, and traditional media.
  • Ability to cultivate and steward relationships with external constituents.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including the ability to collaborate and work effectively with diverse groups.
  • Outstanding organizational and time management ability.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Strict attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Strong work ethic, enthusiasm, critical thinking skills, sense of humor, creativity, and flexibility.
  • Previous experience covering women’s healthcare issues.
  • Strong copywriter with a skill for storytelling and an ear for a strong pitch for different audiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaboratively develop and execute a strategic communications plan designed to educate, inform, and activate a diverse group of Nebraskans to advance NEFP’s mission and programs.
  • Create and execute media campaigns highlighting services programs, organizational achievements, and fundraising efforts.
  • Create, edit, and publish monthly newsletter (NEFP360), press releases, and social media content.
  • Build and foster relationships with diverse media entities across Nebraska.
  • Recruit and train interns as needed. Coordinate supervisory responsibilities with staff.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Take initiative and work independently with little supervision.
  • Manage conflict and challenges pleasantly and professionally in a manner that produces positive results for all constituents.
  • Serve as an advocate for Nebraska Family Planning and its 11 Agencies across Nebraska.
  • Must have an understanding of and commitment to Family Planning Services & Education.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Some evening and weekend work may be required for special fundraising events and activities.

Role: Administrative Assistant

Position: Part Time

Rate of pay: $16-$19 per hour

Hours Per Week: 20 Hours

Essential Functions:

  • Provide administrative support to Manager/Director level, that may span across various teams and levels within the department.
  • Requires moderate organization and coordination, multi-tasking, interpersonal, and verbal/written communication skills.
  • May serve as a communication liaison between various levels of personnel by relaying instructions and information and following commitments through to completion.
  • Maintains office supply inventory and equipment.
  • Management of records, databases, and documents for organization. 

Work Experience, Skills and Abilities:

  • Minimum 2 years of administrative assistant and data entry experience required.
  • Previous experience with Document Management Software is required.
  • Previous experience with Non-Profit organizations is preferred.
  • Preferred Work Schedule: Monday – Thursday 9:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Education:

  • High School diploma is required.
  • Associate degree in related field preferred.
